Do You Need PRP Injection Therapy?

Did you know that your own blood can be used to treat certain injuries? Just ask two well-known professional athletes – Hines Ward and Troy Polamalu of the Pittsburgh Steelers. Before the big game, these superstars used their own blood as part of an innovative injury treatment procedure that hundreds of recreational athletes have also undergone. The procedure, commonly called platelet-rich plasma therapy or PRP injection therapy, helps improve the treatment of injuries like knee tendinitis, tennis elbow, Achilles tendinitis and plantar fasciitis in the foot.

Dr. Gregg S. Berkowitz is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon and Vice President at Advanced Orthopedics and Sports Medicine Institute in Freehold, New Jersey. The CRC is devoted to the treatment of cartilaginous injuries and damage to the knee and other joints. Dr. Berkowitz utilizes the latest techniques in cartilage repair to eliminate pain and return his patients to full activity. He frequently attends educational seminars to stay up to date on the latest treatments that will benefit his patients.
