Dr. Greller’s education and training at leading institutions has given him the opportunity to treat professional athletes, high-level Division 1 college athletes, and high school athletes.  He now brings this level of expertise to Monmouth County.  He has served as the Team Physician for Saint John Vianney High School Football, a physician for the US Open Tennis Tournament, Philadelphia High School Football, Freehold Borough High School Football, several professional dance companies in New York City, and served as the Team Physician for the NY/NJ Comets, a National Pro Fastpitch women’s softball team.  His vast and diverse experience both in the office and on the field allows him to provide the best care to all of his patients. Dr. Greller’s goal is to help his patients recover quickly and he works closely with trainers, therapists, nutritionists and other medical professionals to help his patients return to competition and regular activities.

Dr. Greller specializes in advanced, minimally-invasive shoulder, knee, hip, and ankle arthroscopic procedures, including ACL, rotator cuff and meniscus surgery. He also performs minimally-invasive hip, knee and shoulder replacements. Dr. Greller, being on the cutting edge of technology in orthopedics, was one of the first New Jersey surgeons to do computer-assisted joint replacements in the tri-state area and he is always trained on the latest technologies to improve patient non-surgical and surgical outcomes. He also cares for adult and pediatric fractures, hand and upper extremity problems, as well as foot and ankle injuries.

In addition to overseeing the daily operations at the office as President and Managing Partner of AOSMI, Dr. Greller is an Associate Professor at Temple University – School of Podiatric Medicine, a Faculty Member of the Family Residency Program at CentraState, and the Assistant Director of the Cartilage Restoration Center of New Jersey (CRC). A division of AOSMI, the center is devoted to the treatment of cartilaginous injuries and damage to the knee and other joints.  He utilizes the latest techniques in cartilage repair to eliminate pain, restore function, and reduce or delay the need for total joint arthroplasty, including cartilage regeneration and transplantation.

Dr. Greller also uses platelet-rich plasma (PRP), stem cells and hyaluronic acid to help regenerate and repair damaged joints and tendons through the Wellness Center and Cartilage Restoration Center. Dr. Greller is on the forefront of this evolving treatment and is trained in al the latest advanced techniques.

Dr. Greller was voted in by his peers to serve as Secretary/Treasurer of the Medical Staff of CentraState Medical Center these past two years. In addition, Dr. Greller serves on many hospital committees including running the ED Executive Committee and multiple other hospital committees. Dr. Greller provides compassionate, personalized care and for the past two years was honored with an award for Most Compassionate Doctor. He was named a Vitals Top 10 Doctor in 2014 and was honored again with the 2013 Patients’ Choice Award in addition to having won it in 2008, 2009 and 2012.  He also earned the AMA physicians’ recognition award in 2012.

Dr. Greller is married with two children. In addition to spending time with his family, he enjoys playing basketball, following his favorite football and baseball teams, and getting together with friends in his leisure time. He recently completed an advanced MBA degree at the Isenberg School of Management, which is part of the University of Massachusetts Amherst.

We are proud to announce that Michael Greller, MD, has been elected to a two-year term as chief of staff by the Medical and Dental Staff of CentraState Medical Center. He replaces outgoing chief of staff Moustafa Shafey, MD.

As part of the overall medical management team, the chief of staff serves as a key liaison between the hospital’s physicians and leadership. The chief of staff represents the Medical and Dental Staff and works directly with the hospital president to address topics of mutual interest while helping to ensure high-quality, integrated care. “We greatly appreciate Dr. Shafey’s collaborative leadership as chief of staff over the past two years,” says John T. Gribbin, FACHE, president and CEO of CentraState Healthcare System. “As we welcome Dr. Greller to this position, I am confident that his expertise will enhance our strategic planning and quality care efforts.”

Dr. Greller is a board-certified, fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon and president of Advanced Orthopedics and Sports Medicine Institute in Freehold. He is a member of the CentraState Healthcare System’s Board of Trustees and has been a member of the CentraState Medical Center staff since 2000. He has served as chairman of credentials and vice chairman of the Department of Orthopedic Surgery. He is also a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons.

Dr. Greller earned his medical degree from Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York. He completed his residency in orthopedic surgery at the Hospital for Joint Disease Orthopedic Institute – NYU Medical Center, and a fellowship in sports medicine at Temple University in Philadelphia.
