Dr. Michael Greller is a distinguished fellowship trained, board certified orthopedic surgeon specializing in the treatment of disorders and injuries of the shoulder, knee, and hip. He is committed to a patient-centered conservative approach to treatment, and to helping patients recover swiftly and return to their daily active lifestyles. His specialized training enables him to treat and care for injured athletes, and he collaborates closely with musculoskeletal professionals to facilitate their return to competition.
Today, Dr. Greller is the Vice-Chair of the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at CentraState, in Freehold, New Jersey. Dr. Greller’s extensive experience spans collegiate and professional athletes, having served as Team Physician for various sports teams, including the NY/NJ Comets. His vast and diverse experience both in the office and on the field allows him to provide the best care to all his patients.
He specializes in advanced minimally invasive techniques for shoulder, knee, and ankle arthroscopy, including ACL, rotator cuff, meniscus surgeries, and knee replacements. Dr. Greller is at the forefront of orthopedic technology, having been among the first in New Jersey to perform computer-assisted joint replacements. Dr. Greller is dedicated to enhancing patient outcomes through the latest innovations, such as biological scaffolds for rotator cuff and ACL repair, including the groundbreaking BEAR ACL implant, which he introduced in Monmouth County. His expertise extends to cartilage repair such as the MACI procedure, a regenerative technique that aids in regrowing and replacing damaged knee cartilage, offering pain relief and improved function while potentially avoiding the need for total joint replacement. He cares for adult and pediatric fractures, hand, and upper extremity problems, as well as foot and ankle injuries.

Michael C had a bilateral knee replacement done late February 2017 and only about 1 month after surgery, Michael is able to move better and is even doing a dance in honor of St. Patrick’s Day.
Here Michael is 6 weeks post bilateral knee replacement surgery, done late February 2017. Michael’s mobility is improving every day and is already to walk, run and dance a jig.

We are proud to announce that Michael Greller, MD, has been elected to a two-year term as chief of staff by the Medical and Dental Staff of CentraState Medical Center. He replaces outgoing chief of staff Moustafa Shafey, MD.
As part of the overall medical management team, the chief of staff serves as a key liaison between the hospital’s physicians and leadership. The chief of staff represents the Medical and Dental Staff and works directly with the hospital president to address topics of mutual interest while helping to ensure high-quality, integrated care. “We greatly appreciate Dr. Shafey’s collaborative leadership as chief of staff over the past two years,” says John T. Gribbin, FACHE, president and CEO of CentraState Healthcare System. “As we welcome Dr. Greller to this position, I am confident that his expertise will enhance our strategic planning and quality care efforts.”
Dr. Greller is a board-certified, fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon and president of Advanced Orthopedics and Sports Medicine Institute in Freehold. He is a member of the CentraState Healthcare System’s Board of Trustees and has been a member of the CentraState Medical Center staff since 2000. He has served as chairman of credentials and vice chairman of the Department of Orthopedic Surgery. He is also a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons.
Dr. Greller earned his medical degree from Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York. He completed his residency in orthopedic surgery at the Hospital for Joint Disease Orthopedic Institute – NYU Medical Center, and a fellowship in sports medicine at Temple University in Philadelphia.

Dr. Greller’s education and training at leading institutions has given him the opportunity to treat professional athletes, high-level Division 1 college athletes, and high school athletes. He has served as the Team Physician for Saint John Vianney High School Football, a physician for the US Open Tennis Tournament, Philadelphia High School Football, Freehold Borough High School Football, several professional dance companies in New York City, and served as the Team Physician for the NY/NJ Comets, a National Pro Fastpitch women’s softball team. His vast and diverse experience both in the office and on the field allows him to provide the best care to all of his patients. Dr. Greller‘s goal is to help his patients recover quickly and he works closely with trainers, therapists, nutritionists and other medical professionals to help his patients return to competition and regular activities.
