Joseph Tauro, MD
Dr. Joseph Tauro, is board certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgeons and is a nationally recognized expert in the treatment of shoulder, sports and degenerative joint disorders. Dr. Tauro’s position at Rutgers Medical School and as a national lecturer on the latest orthopedic techniques assures patients will be provided with the finest care available, and patients with complex problems are often referred to Dr. Tauro from across the United States.
Dr. Tauro is a Master Instructor for the Arthroscopy Association of North America (AANA), and serves on both its Board of Directors and Executive Committee. He is most recently involved in developing new techniques and instrumentation for minimally invasive joint replacement, arthroscopic surgery of the shoulder, and Augmented Reality surgical training. Dr. Tauro has many publications and book chapters to his credit.
A graduate of New Jersey Medical School, Dr. Tauro completed his advanced training in orthopedic surgery at the NJMS affiliated hospitals program. He is currently a Professor of Orthopedic Surgery at the school and is actively involved in the training of new orthopedic surgeons.
Dr. Tauro is the former Director of Ocean County Sports Medicine. In 2023, Dr. Tauro partnered with AOSMI, bringing his practice Ocean County Sports Medicine into the AOSMI network. Together now with AOSMI, Dr. Tauro and the AOSMI team offer patients an expansive geographic footprint of quality orthopedic and musculoskeletal care across 8 locations.
