Dr. Edward J. Armbruster is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon specializing in hand, upper extremity, and microvascular surgery. With more than 15 years of experience, he is recognized for his expertise in treating complex hand and upper extremity conditions. Born and raised in Atlantic City, New Jersey, he has a deep connection to the Jersey Shore community.
Throughout his career, Dr. Armbruster has held several prominent leadership roles, including serving as the 2022-2023 National President of the American Osteopathic Academy of Orthopaedics. His clinical focus includes the management of traumatic, degenerative, sports-related and overuse hand and upper extremity conditions. Known for his surgical precision and commitment to patient-centered care, he remains at the forefront of innovative treatments in orthopedic surgery. He is affiliated with CentraState.
After earning his Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry and cellular and molecular biology from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, Dr. Armbruster pursued a Master of Arts in medical sciences from Boston University School of Medicine. There, he conducted research on the molecular basis of arthritis and connective tissue disorders at the National Arthritis Laboratory.
He completed his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, followed by an orthopedic surgery residency at what is now Jefferson Health in New Jersey. During this time, he gained invaluable experience at Cooper University Hospital for Level I trauma care and AI DuPont Hospital for Children for pediatric orthopedic care. Additionally, he served as assistant team physician for the Camden Riversharks professional baseball team from 2003 to 2007.
Following his residency, Dr. Armbruster completed a fellowship in hand, upper extremity, and microvascular surgery at Rutgers Health – New Jersey Medical School. He holds a Certificate of Added Qualification in Surgery of the Hand and is an active member of the American Society for Surgery of the Hand, the premier medical society dedicated to the advancement of upper extremity care, research, and education.
Dr. Armbruster continues to contribute to the field through scholarly publications and lectures at national orthopedic meetings.
