JUSTIN ELKRIEF, DO

Board-Certified Orthopedic Surgeon | Fellowship Trained in Orthopedic Spine Surgery

Dr. Justin Elkrief is a board certified and fellowship trained orthopedic surgeon specializing in spine surgery. Dr. Elkrief earned his B.S. in Biochemistry and Cell Biology from The University of California, San Diego where he was awarded Provost’s Honors. He went on to earn his medical degree from Touro University Nevada. Dr. Elkrief then completed his internship and residency at Nassau University Medical Center in New York, where he was nominated Chief Resident. After residency, he completed a comprehensive Orthopedic Spine Surgery fellowship at Geisinger Medical Center in Pennsylvania.

Dr. Elkrief specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of various spine conditions, including herniated discs, infection, trauma, fractures, scoliosis, and degenerative conditions throughout the cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spine. He has a particular interest in cervical and lumbar motion preservation, disc replacements, and minimally invasive surgery. His primary goal is to make an accurate diagnosis and ensure that all patients understand their condition, so that they can effectively evaluate and choose from all the treatment options available. Dr. Elkrief will do everything possible to alleviate pain, restore function, and preserve quality of life. Dr. Elkrief’s aim is to exhaust all conservative and non-operative treatment options before a surgical procedure is considered. He believes that the best approach to treating the spine is through a multi-disciplinary, collaborative team of specialists, including pain management doctors, physical therapists, neurologists, physical medicine and rehabilitation doctors, and chiropractors to help maximize the success of conservative treatments. Dr. Elkrief believes strongly that surgery should only be considered once these conservative treatment options have failed.

Dr. Elkrief is trained in the latest surgical techniques and technology available in spine surgery. He is a member of several professional societies, including the American Osteopathic Academy of Orthopedics, the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, and the North American Spine Society. Dr. Elkrief has published and presented in various fields of orthopedics, including trauma and spine surgery.

In his free time, Dr Elkrief enjoys traveling, hiking, cooking, playing basketball, cheering on the Lakers and Dodgers, and spending time with his wife and children.
