Tauro, a distinguished, world-renowned orthopedic surgeon, and the Clinical Director at AOSMI in Toms River, has been appointed Second Vice President of the Arthroscopy Association of North America (AANA). This prestigious leadership role places Dr. Tauro in the presidential line of succession, with the honor of serving as AANA President in 2027.
Recognized as one of the foremost authorities in arthroscopic surgery, Dr. Tauro has spent over three decades advancing the field of minimally invasive orthopedic procedures, with particular expertise in shoulder and knee reconstruction. A member of AANA since 1992, he began his journey as an associate instructor and became a Master Instructor in 1996—teaching shoulder arthroscopy to surgeons around the world ever since. His appointment reflects a career defined by innovation, education, and global leadership.
Dr. Tauro is credited as the first in the world to publish a peer-reviewed article on arthroscopic rotator cuff repair, helping to revolutionize shoulder surgery techniques globally. He has played an integral role in driving innovation by developing surgical simulators together with VirtaMed that utilize augmented reality to enhance the training of future orthopedic surgeons in arthroscopic surgery. His training also includes military clinical personnel in specialized arthroscopic procedures.
